Camera Shots/Angles Quiz

Hi! Recently I comlpeted a mini project examining my new knowledge on shots and angles! I had to choose 1-2 inanimate objects and tell a story purely through 15 shots. Of those 15 shots, we had 11 types of shots/angles we were required to use.

My partner and I used a Toy Story movie-inspired approach where, instead of toys, school objects come to life. In our story, 2 crayons attempt to escape a classroom after discovering that they were left unattended by teachers and students.

While developing our shot list, we wondered how this story would unfold if it was our childhood movie Toy Story. Of course, the story had to begin with the crayons finding out they are in an empty classroom and end with a twist. So, the story began with the crayons peeking out of a pencil case and ended with them being captured by a student right when they escaped the classroom!

We used my phone to take capture the shots. Once we found an empty desk on the other side of our classroom, we grabbed our shot list, a prop backpack, a pencil case, and 2 crayons then got to work! It was easiest for us to take the pictures in the order they appearded on our shot list.

Now that we had all of our pictures, we put them together in a PowerPoint presentation to tell the visual story. We made sure to label the shots and say why we used it.

I feel that for our first time using these shots, we did pretty well! Our pictures provide a clear step-by-step on how the crayons escaped the classroom and we did a solid job at providing context that the classroom actually was empty. The use of our shots were meaningful as well.

Although, if  I were to do this again, I would add a face and arms to the crayons to make them look more alive and define their actions some more.

If you want to check out the project for yourself, here it is! Enjoy, and I'll talk to you next time!👋📸 Camera Shots and Angles Quiz.pptx
